Cheltenham Design Festival
Last weekend we visited the Cheltenham Design Festival for it’s big debut (which we were told has taken several years of planning). Set in the fantastic Parabola Arts Centre it was great to see another design festival taking off outside of London and a little closer to home.
The festival brought together a rich collection of creatives from different disciplines and areas of the industry to consider and
discuss this year’s topic of “Who’s designing the future?”. An inspiring question that considered the rise of social media, the
development of design globally and what is the essence of creativity.
The festival was split into 3 days of design talks, presentations and (some often heated) discussions. There were many brilliant subjects covered, insightful discussions between the panel towards the audience’s questions and lots of great advice for young designers and students trying to get their foot in the door.
The Cheltenham team really did a great job organising the event; with exhibitions of local work and plenty of time for a little networking between events they’ve set high expectations for the 2013 festival and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned!
