Brought to you by Burning Red for the Cardiff Design Festival 2010

Tag-Teams of multi-disciplined designers will take on a collaborative design challenge to illustrate, cut, paste and layout a design in a showcase to flex their design skills to the max. There can only be one winner and the audience will decide.

Taking the cue from fight-club style creative battles, with teams of creatives working together to come up trumps with a design and layout they can be proud of; Design Wars promises to be a friendly light-hearted evening of drinks, great conversation and a fantastic opportunity to hook up and meet like minded illustrators and designers around town.

Milgi Lounge and bar will be on hand for the fiest cocktails in town and DJ Ruffstylz (associated minds) will be lubricating eardrums with the choicest party breaks.

More information – what’s the big idea?

The idea is that we are going to make ‘tag-teams’ with people who are interested in doing it. So, there could be teams of 3 or 4 who will work collaboratively to produce a piece from the brief. They would have say 5 mins each and would need to swap over 2 or three times their own time… all the time against the other team.

• The audience would then judge the overall winner based on a few categories.
• Depending how many people are interested – we would do a few heats, with a final.
• We may also have time for a couple of team battles and a couple of individual battles.

It’s the time of year again, with the smell of damp rain in the air for the arrival of the brightest thing in Cardiff, The Cardiff Design Festival. We’re putting on two event-type-workshoppy-interactive-event-thingummybobs. The first being ‘Go Font Yourself‘ where we are challenging you, the general public to make your own font.

Think Blue Peter meets Berthold.

It’s dead easy so make sure you come along to Morgan Arcade this Saturday the 9th October between 10am and 1pm where you can get creative and make your very own A-Z’s. All fonts made will be available to download from the Burning Red Website soon after. We’ll be awarding a ‘Golden Glyph’ award for the most original font created too.
